Principal's Message

Principal

We are so excited to begin a new school year at Lewis & Clark Middle School.  I am looking forward to my first year as Principal at Lewis & Clark Middle School.  We have a great year planned!

Our staff is highly qualified and committed to partnering with each other, students, and parents to ensure a positive, intellectual learning environment.  They believe in working in professional learning communities to develop learning teams and growing as professionals to benefit the students we serve.  When our students leave us, they will be good citizens and be prepared to excel at Davis High School or Eisenhower High School.

As Yakima School District continues working towards its Strategic Goals, students at Lewis & Clark Middle school will read more complex texts, analyze, problem-solve, and communicate their thoughts verbally and in writing.  We will continue to have access to technology with one to one access for student computers.  Teachers and students will work together to use these tools to deepen learning.

Middle school is an exciting time of change.  Not only will students will be managing more classes and increased workload, they will be adjusting to social changes as well.  Lewis & Clark Middle School is a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) school.  Using our on TRACK acronym which stands for tolerance, respectful, accountable, courage, and kindness, we will teach common procedures for classroom expectations, hallways, cafeteria, restrooms, and other ways to create a consistent, safe environment.

I am honored to serve as Principal at Lewis & Clark Middle School.  After twenty-five years working in middle schools, I find that I am as excited this year as I was the first year I stepped into a classroom.  I keep my why at the center of my work: “To inspire love and hope in the students and staff that I serve, so that they may have the opportunity to pursue their dreams.”  It’s going to be a great year!

Blazer Pride!
