Keyboarding Skills
Out with the pencil and in with the keyboard! Students needs to be able to type successfully. Incoming 6th graders should be keyboarding at 15 AWPM (average words per minute), 7th graders: 20 AWPM, 8th graders: 25 AWPM. The SBA now requires a significant amount of keyboarding. www.typingweb.com is a free website designed to help students become successful keyboarders. Students are encouraged to practice keyboarding skills over the summer!
Khan Academy
6th Grade Math Teachers are encouraging incoming 6th graders to spend 30 minutes a day working on math concepts during the summer! This site is free and can be tailored to meet your child's needs.
